City Project -Day 5- Friday
The Home Stretch We are nearing the end of a very good week. But we are not quite done yet. Friday started with the Word of God, brought to the team by Bob Barber. Bob reminded us through Jeremiah that although the people of God were experiencing great difficulty and were in a foreign land living amongst those who had conquered them, they were to seek the welfare of the city they lived in, because it would benefit them, their neighbors, and would honor God. As we started our last full day, it was good reminder that we are in Hernando, for Hernando, that Jesus Christ might be lifted up in word and deed as we serve the city. The work is drawing to a close and the progress today was substantial. The projects we started are all coming to a place of completion. Sure, there is so much more we could do, but the appointed time has also run out on us, eaving us the difficult choice of what "not to do." Nevertheless, the Lord is pleased when His people endeavor and proceed in serving in His name. One thing that has been very encouraging as the week has progressed, is the way in which the family of Dorothy Malone has reached back to us in asking to participate in the work and by taking up some of the additional work on their own. What an encouragement that the work the Lord gave us to do has lead those who are recipients of His grace to see the good in the efforts. When we left tonight, the family was looking forward to working together throuhgout the evening on other jobs around the house. And while Bob reminded us this morning that all of this work will need to be done again in the future, it was a good reminder that the call to seek the welfare of the city is one that God uses to glorify Himself.
